With this tutorial, we will show you how to make a photo look aged.

Although there are MANY ways to make a photo look aged, we find this method is good to make subtle changes without over-doing it. This method can be used on images ranging from still-life to people.

Step 1:

Make a duplicate layer of your original photograph.

Step 2:

With your duplicate layer selected (top layer), add grain by going to Filter > texture > grain.
A new window will come up.  Here you will use these settings:
    Intensity 40,
    Contrast 50
    Grain type is Speckle
    Select "OK".

*This will add a slight grain texture like an old photograph.

Step 3:

Keeping your top layer selected, adjust Hue & Saturation levels.
    Make sure "Colorize" is checked.
    Adjust Hue to 45
    Saturation to 25
    Lightness to -10
Change the opacity of this layer to 50%.

*This will give your photograph a slightly faded, aged look.

Step 4:

Select your original layer.  Pick a larger soft brush with your airbrush tool and set the opacity to 35-40%. Pick a color that you feel will enhance the aged look of your photo.  Tans and dull yellows work well. Lightly airbrush the edges of your photo as desired to enhance it a little bit more.

Done!
