Step 1.
Convert any color images to black and white. To do this, first make sure to have your background color set to white and your foreground color set to black. The simplest way to do this is just to click on the icon in your tool palette
Step 2.
Navigate the drop down menus to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Gradient Map. Make sure the box is left unchecked, the color is set to none, and the mode is normal with 100 % opacity. Click OK. In the next window, make sure Gradient Options are unchecked. Click OK. The original color image should now be black and white. Flatten the image so there are no layers except the background layer.

Step 3.
Using a your lasso tool at about a 200 pixel feather, make a loose selection around the woman's face and arm. Navigate to Select > Inverse. Copy and paste the selection into a new layer by pressing Control + J.

Step 4.
Navigate to Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set the radius to about 45 pixels. Fade the opacity in Layer 1 to about 50%. Flatten the image.
Step 5.
Similar to step 3, use the lasso tool at about a 200 pixel feather to make a loose selection around the woman's face only. Navigate to Select > Inverse. Copy and paste the selection into a new layer by pressing Control + J.

Step 6.
Navigate to Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set the radius to about 45 pixels. Fade the opacity in Layer 1 to about 35%. Flatten the image.
Step 7.
Again, navigate to Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set the radius to 1 pixel.
Step 8.
Now we need to add some noise to make the digital image resemble film. To do this, Navigate to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Set the amount to 2.5% and the Distribution to Gaussian. Make sure Monochromatic is checked at the bottom. Click OK.
Step 9.
Now using burn tool with a soft-edged brush set on Midtones and 50%, darken the edges around the dark background on the right side of the image. Set the Range to Highlights at 26% to darken the edges on the left, light side of the image. We found this burn technique works best because it creates a natural looking vignette. Play around with this step until you reach the desired effect.

Step 10.
Navigate to Layer >New Adjustment Layer > Hue Saturation. A dialogue box will appear. Make sure to have Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask checked. Color should bet set to None with the Mode at Normal and the Opacity at 100 %. Click OK. A new dialogue box will appear for the Hue/Saturation adjustment. Click the Colorize box. Set the Hue to 30 and the Saturation to 25. Click OK.

Step 11.
Set the opacity for the adjustment layer at about 50%. Flatten the layers. Now you're done!
